Dr. Sutherland is a highly experienced, skilled and qualified organisational development professional, specialising in leadership development in a large, complex system. His roles include diagnosing issues, providing advice and designing and implementing personal and organisational interventions in the UK and internationally. 

Dr Sutherland has first hand experience of executive leadership as well as board level experience as a non executive director of a charity and vice chair of governors at the school in his local town.  

He holds post graduate qualifications in Public Administration, Government and Organisational Development and is a member of several professional bodies.  He is also a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst; the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College; The College of Combat (MHOW) India and the Defence Strategic Leadership Programme, Defence Academy, UK.  He holds the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service and the General Service Medal and  was involved in  peace keeping missions in Grenada (1983/ 84) and led the regional response to the coup in Trinidad (1991)

eements.

His professional interests and experience are in the fields of system leadership, institution building, governance, leading in conflict and fragile states, change management, strategy development, board and team development and coaching.

7. Lead consultant to the government of Rwanda on High Performance Government;

8. Principal OD and Leadership consultant; Department for International Development

He is an avid sportsman and has represented Jamaica in athletics, managed the Jamaica boxing team to several international games and is an International boxing referee and judge.  A former General Secretary of the Jamaica Boxing Board of control and Vice President of the Jamaica Men’s Hockey Association.
